Pub Quizzes
There are few modern miracles more reliable than a pub quiz.
For a couple of hours, your phone stays in your pocket and your mates become (very loud) geniuses and absolute nonsense becomes deeply important.
You remember the name of a river you’ve never seen, argue about ancient pop lyrics like it’s twelve angry men, and discover (once again) that someone in your group knows far too much about flags.
It’s a small, weekly ritual: pints, pens, hating the team next to you, the sweet sting of being wrong in public, and the shared glory of getting that one obscure question right (the answer is nepal).
We run two quizzes (for now):
Big’s Big Pub Quiz @ New Amsterdam
Wednesdays — 7.30pm
General knowledge, good banter, occasional heartbreak, occasional headache, and counting how
many Murphy's Big can put away.
Kev’s Music Quiz @ New Amsterdam
Every other Sunday (roughly)
When Kev remembers. When Kev is fighting fit. When the stars align. Everything from Bach to Backstreet Boys is on the cards, and the prizes are usually cat food and obscure magazines.
